Where is your cat family located in?

New South Wales, Australia

What are the breeds of your cats?

Rescue Cats, but apparently Lumos' DNA suggests he has a lot of Russian Blue in him.

How old are your cats?

They are both 3 years old.

Where can we find your cats on social media?

On Instagram @theadventuresoflumosandnox

In a few short words/sentences, tell us about your cats' personalities.

Lumos is an attention-seeking cuddle bug who just loves people, food, and being told that he is a good boy.

Noxie comes across as quiet, but she is extremely clever, very loving, and very cheeky.

How have your cats transformed your life from the moment you've met them till now?

It's an understatement to say they've changed our lives. Through training them, they opened our eyes to catexploring. And because of their Instagram, we were able to connect with so many other people around the world like us.

As a child, I went catexploring with our family cat, but I thought I was the only odd person who did that. And then through Lumos & Noxie and their Instagram, we felt a sense of belonging with all these other people who do it too.

We wanted to share that feeling so we created Catexplorer to provide that sense of belonging to more people, to help people go catexploring, answer the questions they have, and raise awareness about catexploring.

What do your cats mean to you?

Lumos and Noxie are members of our family and we see them as our fur babies.

How did you and your cats first meet? Tell it to us in the form of a short story.

A good friend sent me a photo of 3 kittens that her sister was fostering in Canberra and I fell in love immediately.

I had been hassling Daniel about adopting kittens for a while, so when I forwarded the photo to him I didn't expect him to be interested. But that night he said, "let's go see them this weekend".

Fast forward to the weekend, we drove 3 hours to Canberra, to meet this adorable litter of kittens. My friend's sister was lovely enough to take the whole litter for the weekend (resulting in more than 7 cats in her house).

Lumos started following us straight away and we knew at once that he was meant to be our Lumos. Meanwhile, when I first saw Noxie, she was upside down on the couch, tail up in the air, staring at my playfully. I thought she was odd.

But she changed my mind and started snuggling and playing with us and following us around too. So we knew she was meant to be our Noxie. And we bought them home that afternoon.

What do you think your cats think of you?

Lumos - humans he must protect, cuddle, and drool on.

Noxie - humans to play with.

Your cats are part of your family. What are some things they do that make you think that they consider you part of theirs?

Lumos and Noxie are really protective of us, so if they sense that we are unwell or stressed they will do everything possible to make us feel better. From purring to showing us their behinds, to wrapping their tails around us and just being with us. They really play such a big part of our lives.

Why do you feel that it is important to show the world that Cats are Family?

When we share about Catexplorer, we often share that cats are underestimated. There are some unflattering stereotypes about cats because people see them through dog coloured glasses. We think that you truly don't know a cat till you have one in your family, and when you do, that's when the magic happens.
